Are they somehow affiliated with Drakes now? I stopped in there a few weeks ago and every server had a Drakes t-shirt on.
No, not that I know of. I think staff uniform is whatever brewery. May have just been a coincidence that everyone was wearing Drakes that night.

If any of you are on the other side of the east bay hills, E.J. Phair's has a newer IPA out that looks, smells, and tastes nothing like their other hoppy offerings. It's called Bat Exodus. Mosaic hops, then dryhopped with Citra and Simcoe. Not a backboner's IPA.

Am I the only one who can't see these images? All I get is a grey "blocked" icon from everything MrDave posts.

Anyway, yesterday was the Farm to Fermentation festival in Santa Rosa, it was pretty nice to be able to get as much RR as I want with no lines, especially when they're pouring Beat and Pliny. There's also a fuckton of cider coming out of Sonoma right now, some of it pretty good. But what I found really intriguing was the Citra Sour from Almanac, it's a golden sour dry-hopped with Citra and it tasted great, a lot like what TRB is doing with those. Should be coming out soon, the guys at the booth said 1-2 weeks. Worth seeking out.

I think Citra Sour is already at certain spots. A friend of mine picked up a bottle yesterday.

Falling short on my due diligence, anyone events or happenings this coming weekend? Anyone in Oakland/Alameda want to do an IP?

IP what for? I'm around those places.

You might be confusing it with the Farmer's Reserve Citrus? If not, never mind.
Nope. Saw the picture of the bottle on Instagram today. Very different teal label. He does work at a store with a decent bottle selection -- possible commercial sample.

Same here (I have Disconnect and uBlock installed, but I have them both whitelisted for Talkbeer and any domains that advertise/cross-post here).

Yup.

Did Almanac have or say anything about Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine coming again this year? I really enjoyed 2013. Wasn't a big fan of last year's release but want to see what they do this year.

I could see it earlier, and it was a flyer for a 1 yr anniversary for Hops Grenade.
Weird, didn't realize my pics were having issues. I use the url from their Google Photos location.

It was a photo i took of the ******* ice sculpture they got for the occassion. Some local tap offerings included Simpleton, Hop Slangin, Concecration, Impossible Soul...cask of Maui Waui on pineapple and mango. Insanely crowded by about 3pm. A lot of people were buying up the Loons. They had Iris and i am not sure what the other one was. Bottles of Jester King too.

Wasn't Devil's Advocate their first attempt at dry-hopped sour? I remember it being a notch or two below TRB hoppy sours. Hopefully this one is better.

Thanks for the write up too.

Devil's Advocate was more of a Brett IPA. Consensus was negative. I liked one bottle and hated the other.

They had some kind of pumpkin beer but pumpkin beers are for only the girliest of girls so I didn't try it or ask about it.

I wasn't aware of that one. I tend not to buy bottled beer since the house so I'm mostly only trying their stuff at festivals and such.

Went to Harmonic Brewing in Potrero Hill over the weekend. While the area is a desolate industrial area, it is not to far from 22nd Caltrain, Smokestack, etc. and they have a nice taproom, lots of parking, allow dogs, and outside food.

Taplist is small and really dug the Rye IPA and Wit. A nice stop on a trip to Cellarmaker or if you are in the area.

I totally forgot to put this on my calendar...I was actually bummed as I really wanted to go.

Also, Cita Sour was on tap at the RRBR last weekend and was damn good.

phildo started at the beginning of the Summer at Alminac. I'm expecting them to improve in quality significantly. He is also the man responsible for the Sour program at Sudwerk that dontdrinkbeer reviewed last winter.

I've noticed a much better quality out of the sours since the Farmers Reserve Pluot and Blackberry this year. They are definitely beers I am picking up multiple bottles of once again.

He might actually be the guy I talked to. Provided his name is Phillip, which seems likely from the username.

Damn, I was just at Smokestack yesterday too. I saw LeAnn Rimes there, no biggie.

I'd go with partially responsible. Sudwerk's head brewer, Mike Hutson, helped get their sour program up and running. Mike really turned that brewery around. We'll see what the future holds for Sudwerk as he just left the brewery to head up to Seattle. I think Sudwerk is in good hands though, and wish them the best of luck moving forward.
