Bay Area Breweries

So I'm on a trip to CA and have a free day in my schedule. My plan was to head to a brewery or two in the area and sample some of the local brews. I know Anchor Steam is nearby, but wanted to know if there was anything else especially interesting or that I shouldn't miss. I could probably also be talked into a winery or a good pub, if they come highly recommended.

you HAVE to head to Monk's Kettle.

it is a great little pub that has a fantastic beer menu and great food too


As far as breweries, there is Anchor, 21st Amendment, and Speakeasy. They are all in the city and worth visiting

Also Magnolia's and Beach Chalet, both great beer. City Beer Store is also a really cool store. Try em out!

If you're going out to the coast or into southern san francisco, popping into Half Moon Bay brewery in half moon bay is always good.

Their maverick's amber ale is kick-ass, as are any of their brewer specials.

Oh, and their growlers are a good price and are the swing-tops that you can carbonate in :rockin: I need to get a bit more of a collection of those going.
