I'm new to keg maintenance, and have what might be a stupid question. If my poppet keeps doing this:

Then I need to replace the poppet, right?

does it do that when you're screwing the post on, or just randomly?

while your screwing it on you have to be careful the poppet seats correctly, if it doesn't seat just loosen and re-tighten. if you screwed the post on and the poppet seated fine, then it did this, yea get a new poppet.

It does this when I take the QD off. If I manipulate it with a screw driver I can seat it correctly and it holds pressure. But every time I put a QD on and take it off, it does this again.

Have you tried taking the poppet from the other disconnect and see if it does the same thing? That would probably tell you if it's the poppet or something about the way the disconnect is going on.

It wouldn't hurt to have extra poppets around anyways.
