Back sweetening

Hello,
I've brewed my first batch back after a forced hiatus of a few years and it's too bitter/ over hopped. Can I back sweeten it with lactose, and if so approx. how much per 5 gallons? Thank in advance!

Making your beer sweet won't make it less bitter. It will only add another layer of flavor. If it were me I would brew the same beer again with a lot less hops and when it is ready to drink blend it with the beer that is too bitter.
