Having been an admin and mod for a relatively busy forum at one point, I certainly understand them more than most would. It's thankless at times, and I bet their PM inboxes are full at all times. Killing spambots is oddly satisfying though, and banning trolls has its merits for sure.

Mods and admins, I salute you.

The mods and admins here are excellent. I've always been surprised that a community as large as we are can be moderated by so few people.

Nice thread, ass-kissers.

Watching you.

I'll chime in and say thanks for the support. It's really a great group of people who hang out here and moderation is usually easy, and I work with a great bunch of people from different walks of life who appreciate the forum and work to keep it a safe place for anyone to explore the hobby of homebrewing and learn to improve their beer. Or just to hang out and BS.(believe it or not we've had people who were quite prominent in the forum not make beer!)

So again, thank you for your kinds words, and if you ever feel that words are simply not enough, we also accept praise in monetary and beer forms as well.

I accept appreciation in Bitcoin and love poems. Also lunch, I will accept a lunch so long as we don't have to talk.

For those who don't have a love of bitcoin or love poems, I don't want Bitcoin, nor love poems. I will take beer in any size bottles.

I will accept lunch, but I HAVE to talk so you have to listen. I don't eat much, so please bring beer so I can have a square meal. (Four beers, one on each corner, would be a good 'square meal' for me).

You also might want ear plugs.

Other than that, I'm easy going. :p

My wife & I will be in the U.P. for a few days, second week of June. If you're anywhere close to the Keweenaw, shoot me a PM, we'll buy you lunch and a beer.

I don't have earplugs, but I have a set of those big ear muff noise suppressors I could bring along. It might draw some unwanted attention, but I won't hear it anyway. :cross:

I think the admins and mods here do a pretty good job. Being an ex moderator from another site, I know the job can have its headaches, especially if you don't have the backing of the site you're policing. That, imo, is very important.

Thanks.:mug:

A good forum requires 2 things: a bunch of active, knowledgeable people and minimal troll intrusions.

I visit often because of both and try to contribute when I can.
Thanks indeed to the mods.

I will be gone to the NHC in San Diego from June 6-17, so I have a feeling that we'll not be in the same place at the same time. :(

Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Co, Point Loma in the background of this pic

how can you NOT want to visit when there's a warship stuck in the cement right across the street?

spent the first 1/2 of my navy career within a 3-mile radius of USS Neversails. wasn't a brewery there, just boot camp

Have a good trip to SD. My sister in law lives there and we go out every winter for a few weeks--great town. Check out Pizza Port (several locations, but I've only visited the one in Solana Beach). GrogNerd mentioned Oggi's in Point Loma--it has an entire wall lined with taps, and the food is pretty good. Breweries are all over the place, you can't throw a rock without hitting one. There's a concentration of them in North County: Stone, Ballast Point, Green Flash, etc. Check out White Labs' tasting room and try identical beers side-by-side that were brewed with different strains.

@Austin and @Homercidal are jerk holes that need berry punched daily to keep them in check. everyone else is doing a great job though! and by everyone else, I mean me. I'm pure, unadulterated awesomeness wrapped in more awesome.

Fair enough. Homer and I will have a meeting where we finally decide how to end the terror of Billy-Klubb.

Then why did you ask me to stop? With the bitcoins, oddly enough you demand a daily poem.

My guess is someone starts a beer poetry thread. You. You should start a beer poetry thread.

You are deep TX, deep....

:)

That a flood joke? Too soon.

We have a very awesome power balance that makes it easy. I get the feeling the mods like each other. I've been admin on other sites where there's clear dislike/competition and it gets tense.

Beer, by George Arnold (1834 – 1865) (http://brookstonbeerbulletin.com/beer-poetry/)

HERE,
With my beer
I sit,
While golden moments flit:

Alas!
They pass
Unheeded by:
And, as they fly,
I,
Being dry,
Sit, idly sipping here
My beer.

O, finer far
Than fame, or riches, are
The graceful smoke-wreathes of this cigar!
Why
Should I
Weep, wail, or sigh?
What if luck has passed me by?
What if my hopes are dead,—
My pleasures fled?
Have I not still
My fill
Of right good cheer,—
Cigars and beer

Go, whining youth,
Forsooth!
Go, weep and wail,
Sigh and grow pale,
Weave melancholy rhymes
On the old times,
Whose joys like shadowy ghosts appear,
But leave me to my beer!
Gold is dross,—
Love is loss,—
So, if I gulp my sorrows down,
Or see them drown
In foamy draughts of old nut-brown,
Then I do wear the crown,
Without the cross!

No, we don't really like each other. They pretend to like me, because I bribe them to come to my house and then I ply them with beer and boat rides. Normally, it is cold and raining (it's July, after all), and there are hoards of mosquitoes and they pretend to enjoy themselves to humor me.

At least the ones in driving distance do that. The Texas folks and the lone MO moderator and one certain East coast fellow are much more stand-offish. I think they have a fear of being poisoned or drowned or eaten by mosquitoes.

There is one certain moderator who thinks he is very funny and makes comments about submarine rides and being under the surface of the lake during one boat tour, but he is not funny a bit.

That a flood joke? Too soon

Never too soon to start with the jokes preying on the misfortune of others. Is that not the HBT way? You teach us these things, then you discourage us from using that which you have taught so well? Tsk....my appreciation for your work is now greatly diminished.......

sarcasm; but one service I humbly offer :cross:
