Avantco IC3500 Wiring - ?OKAY?

Can someone quickly tell me whether this is an acceptable way to run an Avantco IC3500 off of a dryer (NEMA 10-30) outlet? I plan to wire the dryer plug into the NEMA 6-20 receptacle. I realize this probably doesn't meet code, but is there any reason to believe it is dangerous?

That is basically what I did except I used a receptacle and a single gang box. Either way will work.

Probably be a good idea to get one of these.
