Has anyone used an Auber SYL-2381 temp controller with RS-485 to run an SSR for a heating element in a kettle and interfaced it with there computer ? Just reading about it on the Auber Instrument Web Site.

If you want to computerize, look at BruControl. RS485 is pretty long in the tooth, and most late model home computers don't support it, and no laptops support it. Plus, you will have much more flexibility with BruControl, and need to do much less programming yourself.

Still studying BruControl. Looks like a great system but a real learning curve figuring out the components needed and interfacing to computer and touch screen. Thinking maybe doing some simple kit projects first. No problem assembling and designing a 240 volt pid panel which I really enjoy working on. But would like to learn to design and build a more automated and plc/computer type system.
