I dunno if anyone has tried this or if it would even turn out right, but would it be possible to use lager yeast to make apfelwein? The only reason I ask is because I have a gallon of apple juice in my fridge and it wouldn't be to hard for me to get some lager yeast. and ferment that bad boy right in my fridge.

Has anyone tried this before? opinions?

would this even be considered apfelwein if using lager yeasts?

I don't think anyone's done it yet, so if for no other reason, TRY IT!

I mean, a gallon of apple juice is what, three bucks? :)

There are people who have used various ale yeasts and contributed to the apfelwein threads, so I'd say it's fair game.

Even if it's not, who cares!

I read a thread a long time ago about someone using superior lager yeast and fermenting at ale temps. They said it came out better than anything before.
