I'm looking for cost effective options for kegerator conversion kits. Has anyone purchased and used the Kegco conversion kits and have thoughts on the quality?

I havent used the conversion kits, but I have used a number of their entry level/budget line products. And most (not all) of them were garbage. I suggest, if you can afford it, or save for a bit, buying slightly upgraded stuff from the start. The kegco tap tower is nice, faucets suck, and dont even get me started on the regulator. That being said, I dont know which one you're looking at, but based on my experience, I would avoid the cheaper kegco stuff.

If you do however decide to go that route, buy directly from beverage factory (kegco is their house brand). Beverage factory has phenomenal customer service and when the parts broke on me they returned them and I upgraded for the cost difference. Great shop, but the kegco stuff leaves some stuff to be desired

no matter which way you go, taprite for the regulator and you will have no issues... (with the regulator)

I converted my minifridge. but I purposely don't care how it looks.

look on craigslist for towers, vintage towers, etc.

Thanks for the insight guys. I'm going to refresh a 1950's Kelvinator and while I do have some money to play with I tend to be cheap and look for the best deals. I do also read and respect reviews and experiences from others, so this will really help. I'd hate to throw money at this project just to be frustrated with it a short time later.

Thats a good plan, but you wanna have a balance between saving money up front and down the road. The kegco regulator may be a savings up front, but when you dump straight bottles of co2 cuz the shut off valve on the regulator leaked like a sieve you'll wish you had gone higher end haha.

I think kegco towers are fine. Along with the shanks. But kristiismean is right when she recommends taprite regulators.

Oh and kegco Co2 tanks IMO are fine. Ive had no issues with mine.

kev211, I'm a he, Kristi is my wife.

OP, Figure out what you want. I am trying my first Intertap faucet, I like it.

But support your LHBS if you want them to stay your LHBS. if you don't have one, or they are overpriced, see if they will price match.
Skimp where you can, (tank, lines, shanks, tower) you don't need stainless steel faucets, but they are nice.
Controller, itc-1000 or inkbirds version of it (it's in F and C) if needed.

Needs for 2 tap kegerator, and no tower since you have a full size fridge:
CO2 tank
Regulator Taprite D1060 $64.99 Link
40' Liquid line Beverage Tubing (3/16 ID) $0.79 x 20 = $15.80 Link
5' gas line Ultra Barrier PVC Free beer tubing 5/16 $1.69 x 5 = $8.45 Link
You will need a manifold, or a Stainless T fitting. when gas ball lock ends are not on a keg, they seal themselves.
2 ball lock gas (grey) 5.49 x2 $10.98 Link
2 ball lock liquid (black) 5.49 x 2 $10.98 Link
2 shanks 5.5" Faucet Shank 27.99 x 2 $55.98
2 faucets Intertap Chrome Plated 18.99 x 2 $37.98 Link
2 faucet handles you are on your own, ebay.

Now, these prices are average, you can get the shanks SO much cheaper elsewhere than morebeer, but other than those, the prices are reasonable.
here is an aliexpress shank for 18.35 each, free shipping, 12-20 days Link

If you can get away with a 3.5" shank, I have ordered this one, it works no leaks Shank and faucet and handle 30 shipped each Link

with the aliexpress shank/faucet you are at 170.96 still needing a co2 tank and kegs :) happy kegerating

i've got a kegco conversion...waited til it was on huge sale and only cuz it's a local company that i could go pick up from.
u can definitely do better for the faucet. my regulator hasnt been a problem, but its clearly not the mercedes benz of regulators.

I'd check Birdman brewing, too. Had lot of good experience with those guys. Some items are cheaper than above, too. http://www.birdmanbrewing.com/

And 100% agree on the Taprite. Don't skimp on the regulator.

Thanks All. I think I will skip the Kegco stuff right now. I really like the look and interchangeable aspects of the Intertap faucets. I wish I could get the conversions kits with Intertap as an option. From the sites I have looked at, I can eith go cheap or upgrade to Perlick which I know are not bad. I guess I will have to piece a setup together and hope I don't forget anything.
