Been looking for cheap bulk grains, and so far www.brewbrothers.biz has been the absolute cheapest.

My LBHS will sell me 50lb bag of 2 row for around 55 bucks not including tax nor the gas money to drive an hour to and fro to get it,

Northern brewer after shipping was mid 60's I think,

and this place sells Great Western 2 row pale for 35, plus around 13 bucks for 4 day fed ex. That's less than a buck a pound and the cheapest I've been able to find.

Anyone use them and have any insight for me?

Greatly appreciated,
Tac

I have bought a couple of sacks from Northern Brewer.

Every couple of months they have a 20% off a single item sale. I have gotten them during these sales. Works out to about 90 cents a lb, shipped.

Never had problem with them.

I always feel sorry for the UPS person carrying the sack up the driveway.

I used Brewbrothers a 5 times last year. Really great prices and stellar service for awhile. Then they just seemed to start having trouble being timely and answering questions about orders so I switched suppliers. Had heard they lost their location and were searching for another place to operate from. I really hope that was the problem because I miss the good old days. I've got to try em again soon.

Nice!

Bilsch, if you do within the next couple months, let me know how it goes. I'll be ordering some in the next few months

Great place. Everytime I'm in Portland I grab a few bags. You can't beat the price and the crew is really friendly and helpful.

Good deal, thanks for the input guys! I'll probably give them a try once I'm ready to pull the trigger on a 50lb bag of 2 row

They wanted to charge me $44 to 4 day ship a sack of grain to me and I live in Affton. How did you get the cheap shipped price?

It's just what it showed on their website. 35 for the sack of grain and after shipping, it came out to be like 48 bucks for the 4 day.

I placed another order with BB lest last week and everything came in quick and with no troubles. I guess they have their issues sorted out now and it's all back to the way it was. I'm happy.

In the past I've had good experiences with Brew Brothers. But my last order( just a vial of yeast) ordered mid February took 2 weeks to be told it would ship in a day or 2 , now 2 weeks later still no yeast. I emailed them last week and no response yet.

They're just a few blocks from me. Very nice people, very knowledgeable, and their prices are great. Last I checked they are still going through some location woes and are filling orders through the taproom. I love being able to place an order online then go pick it up later that day or the next and have a beer too.

I've known the owners for quite some time now.. They're all awesome. Been shopping there for years.
But yes, their location went away (owner of the property reasons) and they deal with fulfilling orders through the brewery / taproom. I moved a bit too far away now unfortunately so i don't get out there anymore. But i still do head up for beers from them.

I had the same issue after several emails with no response I finally called them. They got it out to me quick. They are understaffed right now from what I heard some partners had a falling out. Quality products though.

So, i just ordered something from them.

They don't answer their phone nor respond to their "email form"

The FEDEX link to the shipping tracking doesn't work.

Had I known, i would have looked somewhere else...

Same status here...not sure if my small order from a week ago has shipped or not. (Showing only "printed" as status for past 6 days).

Being patient for return call or email, but at some point will need to move on to another vendor. Hopefully I am wrong and the package shows up soon.

Patients and you will get what you ordered. I would call the number after 3 if you want to find out more. Second order came quick a few months ago. I'll say this though, they are a huge supporter of homebrewers. They are sponsors in a lot of home brew comps in Oregon and are drop off points.

I certainly am not trying to disparage these guys, and I fully support small businesses and recognize there can be rough patches. I support my own local HBS for the same reasons you mention...big supporters of homebrewing, local clubs, etc.

Having said that, after 8 days the only status on the order is "printed"...not sure what that means. (I have been giving the benefit of the doubt that since this will ship in a USPS envelope that the items have shipped despite the vague status, but also could be that they do not have stock in those parts.) I used their email feedback form and left a voice message with no replies. I'll try to call after 3 PST as you mention.

In this case I am hoping to get a part to repair my CO2 manifold that my local shops do not carry, so that adds to the anxiousness a bit as my draft system is down until I get the parts. I can be as patient as anyone, but seems reasonable to expect some response on the status of a web order after more than a week.

I really hope they get there poop in a group soon because they were great to work with back when they had functional customer service.

Update: I was able to reach them by phone at around 5PM PST and then got a quick call back with my order status. I was told to expect the parts in the next day or so and the order status was then updated online to "shipped".

Assuming the stuff shows up per the call yesterday and that the issues getting timely order status are just a bump in the road, I will be happy to use them again.
