I am going to try to do a good lager. Have made a lager chamber because I live in Arizona and will need it for the temps. I have never lagered before and I need a pretty good 11 gallon batch to start out with. I like sweeter ales, West Coast IPAs, American Pale Ales, and other beers along that line. Not all that much into the grainier roasted beers. If anyone has any good ideas for a good first time lagering recipe I would sure like to try it.

A Munich Helles of any recipe out to turn out nicely provided you make a decent starter.

Something along the lines of 17lbs of Pilsner malt with 3lbs of Munich or Vienna malt and 0.5-1.0lbs of Carapils for ten gallons of beer. Bitter to approximately 20IBUs with a single noble hop addition at 90 minutes. Ferment with a big pitch of whichever lager yeast you fancy.

The implication of your request is that some lager recipes are easier than others. They're all easy, none more difficult than any other.

I could give you any number of recipes off the top of my head.

Try one of Ken Lenard's:

While you're on Ken's site, read up on lagering.

It is not so much the recipe that makes Lager and Pils, it is the brewing method.

It might not be a bad idea to read Noonan's book on brewing lager beer.
