Alright, I'm having a little gathering in about a month and a half, but I don't have enough of my alcoholic beverage for the evenings event. I would like to brew it, so does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should brew? It doesn't really matter what is brewed they will be impressed either way. But I would prefer as always that its good and not toooo expensive. Thanks for all the help guys.

Given that time frame, I'd do a PA/IPA with a bit of munich/biscuit thrown in for a bit more body rather than waiting for the conditioning to bring it out. Ambers are pretty easy to run early as well. I'd get to brewing though, six weeks is the minimum in my opinion for getting a beer out the door.

If you have about 20 minutes and an extra carboy, you could make some Apfelwein. When it is done (a month later), you could actually pour it back in the juice jugs and refrigerate a couple days before your event. It's 8.5% by my recipe. Click the link below for the recipe. You should be able to make 5 gallons for about $18

EdWort's German Apfelwein

How about a mild or ordinary bitter?

I know they kindof have a reputation as "learners beers" among homebrewers, but the fact is, people really like those styles, and both could be drinking pretty well in six weeks. (Very few beers are good in six weeks, IMHO).

Dude's Pub Ale is a very good bitter--the recipe is linked in his .sig.
