I have a powered mill that I currently just set over a couple 5 gallon buckets to mill my grains. I'm moving and will have a dedicated brewing space, so I'm thinking I'll mount it permanently to a rolling cart with that has a lower shelf to hold the bucket that catches the milled grains. The lower portion could be enclosed behind doors or not, but I don't want to drop a fortune on this.

Does anybody have a recommendation for something that's a good fit (not oversized), is affordable and easily modified?

$100 on Amazon will get you a brand new stainless prep table (30x24") that has an adjustable lower shelf. No doors, but you could create a cloth or plastic dust funnel to match the size of your catch buckets. The top should be easy to cut/drill to match your Mill and Motor, you might want to bolt through some wood directly underneath to add flexing resistance since the attachment area is small.

From a used standpoint something like an old printer cart would probably be the right size and shape. You might be able to turn one up on Craigslist for cheap.

If you like DIY you could make a stand out of a sheet of plywood and some harbor freight wheels following the same basic shape.

someone had posted a pic of theirs a few months back. it was a swing out mill/bin . He had it hinged I would think right under the counter height for comfort ,ran it with a drill . Looked like a pretty cool idea. I'm thinking of building one similar myself .

I suggest looking in Craigslist for a small kitchen cart, or a tool chest cabinet....lots of options inexpensively.

I found a craftsmen tool chest base at the curb on casters and repurposed it.... n/c

The $100 stainless cart sounds nice if you prefer stainless over paint or wood vs free or cheap....lots of good options if you are patient and search around....

Not sure if you want to go here or not....

When I bought my Monster Mill and motorized it, I needed a cart. I used a furniture dolly such as you can get from any home supply store (Menards, Home depot, etc.) and built the frame and covering out of scrap lumber I had available. I removed the cross pieces with the casters on them and attached to the bottom plywood piece, but you could build it right on the dolly if it fits your space. Even if all you're looking for is casters, the cheapest casters you can buy come on one of these dollies.

If you have the capability, you can get exactly what you want, instead of having to make do with some commercial offering.

I'm attaching some pics showing that build. I hinged the top so I could open it up and use a vacuum cleaner to clean out the underside of the mill from time to time.

Geez, you could mill rocks with that motor

did the $60 amazon cart thing...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002OR95X0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it's plastic, so i cut out a hole for the mill and bolted it to the top. The legs were trimmed to the height of the bucket. Seems to work so far. I did bolt up a 2x4 underneath to help the top stay rigid, seemed to be a little too flimsy for me after I cut a hole in it.

I'll see if i can post a pic... i motorized a 3 roller monster mill.

Picked this up locally on craigslist for $40. It has dovetail joints on the drawers and is on wheels. There is room on the top to weigh my grains as well.

LOL, probably WAS it's original purpose....never know what someone can find on cragslist!

edit: and as far as a cart? i'd say get some 2x3"'s, and a sheet of fancy ply wood, stain it all...

edit2: or just had the thought, you could use PVC pipe for the frame. not sure what would be cheaper....
