Any problems capping Warsteiner bottles? (also, is this a good deal?)

Sound like a good deal?

Anyone have any troubles capping these bottles?

Kevin

If they are the standard German 500ml bottles (and they should) you should not have any problem. I'm using 500ml bottles from Weihenstephan and Franziskaner Weissbier and have no problems.

I wish I could find a deal like this here. I once asked at a restaurant, where they serve beer in these bottles, if I can have the empties. They said they'll get back to me. But I never head back from them :(.

I always have problems capping Warsteiner.

Well.. 'problems' isn't exactly right, but the following brands' bottles always seem like they have a not-so-good seal on them:

Bass
Warsteiner
Dos Equis

Yeah, I passed on 'em anyway. It was $35 I can spend on my next brew.

I have a buttload of Sleeman's bottles in the garage I'm in the middle of cleaning. :(

my advice is to find a good commercial brew that you really enjoy and buy a bunch of it. You might end up paying $1/bottle, but you DO get all that beer for free. :)

FYI: my beer of choice for bottle harvesting is Saranac Pale Ale. $11 for a 12 pack, and bottles that cap great.

I've been trying to sample as many "exotic" beers as I can lately, so I've got quite a few different bottles at home now.

Last night I had one of these:

Sure was good! Great mouthfeel, and very easy to drink.

If you can find a place near you that sells beer in the returnable bottles you may want to try there. I get my bottles for $1.20 a case (24), and that with labels and mold thrown in for free. Sure it's a bit of work but for the cost it's worth it.

Hot water, Oxyclean, and bleach do wonders:ban:

I've got about 200 bottles in the garage that I haven't touched yet. No shortage of bottles, I hate returning them.
