Any online stores sell other than 1 & 3lb dme? Or German dme?

Simple question... all the online stores I frequent sell 1 or 3lb bags of dme. Are that any where I can order 5lbs, or 7,lbs, or 10lbs? This way I don't have to buy bulk and can get only exactly what I need. Also, any places have imported German dme?

I would suggest getting more than you need and keeping extra around in a Tupperware container. It is useful to have for making starters and last minute adjustments when you miss your target gravity on brew day.

Agreed. Only thing is the next step after 3lb is like 50 or 55lb, can't recall the exact bulk size. I just think it would make more sense to sell it at whatever quantity requested, or at least with more stepping options. I'll checkout Morebeer.com.

*EDIT - K, morebeer ain't cutting it. Only lme, not dme in graduated quantities and they only have two lme's listed.

There was a recent thread about this, a place selling 10 lbs but the price compared to others was marginal and selection not as good. I have looked at many places but have always gone back to just getting 3lb bags, 1. Because I knew what I was getting 2. The price difference was marginal.

Only way you are going to beat it IMO, is to go with 50 lbs or start using grain.

I use midwestsupplies.com. They offer some (not all) their DME in 50 or 55 pound bags. They carry Muntons and Briess dme.

Stores sell DME in 1 and 3 pound packages because you can make any number you want with a combination of them. So if you order 10 lbs you will get 3 ea 3 lbs and 1 ea 1 lb. Most places do not put 10 lbs of DME into a single bag just because of the size of the bag.

Thanks,

Ed

Hmm, 12lbs there is the same price as Midwest.

Eh, not with shipping. I've never ordered from dmemart so I don't know about their service, etc. (Midwest has been great for me) -- but with shipping cost in the mix it's $43.96 (dmemart) vs. $54.20 (midwest) for me.

Ah true, forgot about that. Do they say anywhere what brand of DME they supply? I'd feel better knowing it was from a known quality malt company.

Rev.

Given the names they're using ("Golden Light," etc.) I assumed Briess, but as far as I can tell it doesn't explicitly say.

Uh, actually it does say explicitly on their homepage.

DMEmart.com not only offers quality Briess dry malt extract at an outstanding price, we ship it to your door free of charge using USPS Priority Mail, and it's tax free.
