I'm trying to make an American Pilsner using saaz hops and lagering in my freezing cold (53 degree) long island basement.
I'm using a 6 gallon vintage carboy, a red rubber cap, a red top airlock, grey goose vodka in the airlock
and very strict measurements and note-taking to ensure that every aspect of the process is covered (and able to be duplicated just in case its amazing beer.)
Has anyone tried to make one of these? Any recommendations?
From my research and deductive reasoning I have determined that I will:
1. ferment the wort in the primary for 9-14 days
2. rack the beer into another glass carboy for a secondary 3-14 days
3. force carbonate to avoid sediment
Sound good?
