It turns out that you need a licence for O2 here (Finland). A guy at the scuba shop said that he could adjust the O2 percentage a bit upwards if I buy "air" from him. I was just wondering would I still need a filter for that stuff if I used it to aerate wort through a 2 micron ss air stone? Or will the pressure kill all the bugs?

Really depends on how much he can up the 02 I would guess. Normal dive gas is pretty much atmospheric (21%) while nitrox is 32-36%. Unless he can go higher than that, I'm not to sure it'd be worth your money.

Can you just go to a welding supply store and buy industrial O2 the kind used for cutting torches and high temperature soldering. In the USA its a purity difference of .5% between medical grade and industrial grade. We need a perscription here to obtain medical grade oxygen but nothing for industrial grade. Maybe an option to explore

I suspect that there generally would be no detectable difference between medical and commercial oxygen. While a higher standard may be required, the reality is probably that it is produced with the same equipment..... It may be stored differently. The ultimate solution would be to use an oxygen concentrator if you know anybody you could borrow one from for a short period of time.

Whether or not "a bit upwards" is worth the cost over plain air, you BREATHE SCUBA AIR INTO YOUR LUNGS!

I doubt it's harmful.

Surely there must be a source of O2 somewhere in your country that doesn't require you to have a license to buy it...

Well I'll look around, but Finland is pretty much the world capital of "nanny state" rules...

I think Oregon is........... Where else can you go to jail for being politically incorrect! ;-)
