Just looking for opinions...if the adhesive thermometer strip on my carboy is showing 65-66, is it fair to say that inside the carboy the temp is a few degrees higher...but less than 70?

During active fermentation the yeast and wort is constantly moving. Some brewers have found a one degree temperature difference between the strip thermometer and a thermometer inside a thermowell at the center of the wort.

I tested it on a batch once and found at no time during the entire fermentation was the reading inside the beer (Oneida Digital Probe Thermometer with Timer) more than 1 degree different than the fermometer on the side

for me, readings from the fermometer are reasonably accurate
