Adding malt to partial extract kit

So heres what im wondering: the wife wants a rye pale ale and i happen to have a brewers best american pale ale partial extract kit. I want to add rye malt to it but how much? I dont want to change the color too much, if possible. so whats the best route here? The kit includes a pound of crushed caramel and two cans of light LME, oz. of citra hops and an ounce of cascade. So lemme know, please and thanks!
