Hi
Brewing a few short months now and really like the hobby and pastime.
Currently, I am using 23 l all grain wort kits. Up here in Canada they are called Festa Brew and I also tried Micro Brew based out of Quebec.

I have my second Brown Ale on the go and is in the bucket for 10 days now. The first brown was only bottled 10 days ago.

I go 2 weeks in primary and 2 in secondary and have read lots on the merits of the secondary.

I tasted a great brown ale with chocolate at a local pub last week and it was fantastic. IBU was 25 and 5.5%.

Thinking on adding some chocolate to the brown I have going and have a question. Do I just add it after transferring to the carboy the way some of you would add fruit or dryhop? How much to add??? Assume 1-2 pounds?
Appreciate any advice?
Thanks

I've added chocolate in the last 15 min of boil- baker's chocolate, unsweetened / debittered. I was doing a Founder's Breakfast Stout and used 4oz of chocolate, not 1-2# (for 5g, ~19L)! I did use 3/4# of chocolate malt in the mash. I also added coffee and felt it overpowered the chocolate. If I do again I will nearly double the chocolate and maybe even drop the coffee.

Also, I do not secondary, fwiw.

Thanks for that . I don't boil but appreciate the information. I have read up on unsweetened chocolate and may not add to this batch until I know more. Don't think I will add the coffee.
