Adding another packet of yeast?

I brewed a pretty strong stout yesterday (1.082). Used 1 packet of 05. Fermentation started off right away. Mr Malty suggests 1.4 packets for that strong of a beer. Should I get another one and add it in or will the 1 do? My brews are usually around 1.060 so I'm not sure what 1 packet will do for 1.080+.

It definitely wouldnt hurt anything to add another one if you have one handy. Im sure it would ferment out just fine though with one but that's a pretty big beer. I've heard it helps when you rehydrate it first but I've pitched dry and everything was fine. I've also had it take three days to show signs when I've pitched dry yeast.

I did rehydrate that packet I put in which definitely help the yeast take off so fast. I'm just worried there won't be enough yeast even with rehydrating

Did you add O2 at all or yeast nutrients ? That's a tall task for 1 pack of yeast

I let it splash out of my CFC and then shook the bucket. No straight O2. Stupid me forgot my nutrients at home. Brewed at my buddy's place. I don't believe my lhbs is open today. I'll grab an extra packet tomorrow and throw it in.

If you have signs of active fermentation, then the yeast have already multiplied to such numbers that adding another packet would be a waste.
I say let her go, control your temps, and be ready with a blowoff.

Long story short, my condo is being worked on so I'm in an apartment right now. I had the beer at the apartment last night but it was 68 or so. I just brought it to my condo and put it in my fermentation fridge so temp is good. I think it will be good with 1 packet
