Im right now boiling my belgian dubbel and i have a jar of whitelabs abbey ale that i top cropped from a beer about a month ago. Ive just opened the jar and its smells funky. Hard to explain, some of the funky smell you might find in a saison dupont but also a bit sour. Should i pitch this? I have some dry abbey yeast as backup. What do you think?

I have no experience of the WLP yeast you have, but if your dry abbaye is safbrew abbaye, then I would still go with the questionable wlp as the Fermentis is very very bland and boring in my experience.

I piched it and it smells great from the airlock!

Wicked great news.
Let us know how it tastes when ready, and a pic as proof would be nice.
