Accidentally dry hopped with Northern Brewer rather than Cascade

The idea was to dry hop with 3 oz of Cascade, which I like. But put in the Northern Brewer instead (which I use exclusively for bittering additions at the beginning of the boil). A good lesson learned. While the beer is drinkable, it certainly gave it a different flavor. Not my favorite IPA I've done, but I'll finish it. This is my worst screw up in 14 batches, so I won't cry in my beer too much. And it sure taught me that hop additions have a definitive influence on the flavor of the finished product. Which has prompted me to place an order for NZ Pacifica hops, which I plan to mix with Cascade on both a hop stand and dry hop additions. Any comments on that combo? Cheers all. :drunk:

I use Pacifica frequently with Pacific Jade in my saison. I tend to think of it as a bit fruitier (Orange) than Hallertau, but nothing I would have considered in an IPA. It's not a strong aroma or flavor. I could see it playing ok with Cascade. I wouldn't expect a clash.

Pacifica is a lovely hop to use. My pacifica pale only uses pacifica funnily enough. Nice all rounder and has a very unique flavour. Was all my first attempt at FWH. The hop flavour has improved since racking. Definitely a hop to use in the future. Unique flavour and not it your face hopiness I believe but could be from the schedule as it was new.

Thank you much. I don't attribute it to my intellect. Perhaps my willingness to clean, scrub and work for good beer (or in this case moderate beer with a decent ABV value)? And aprichman, I would send it to you. But there's only 5 22 oz bottles left. Which is part of the beauty of a less than stellar batch. It will be but a memory soon enough. Cheers all!
