Did science fail you on that one?

That was the opposite of my Ugly IPA... went for an SRM based on a chart, plugged it into beersmith, came out like 3 shades darker.

Either way, I'd drink it.

Having some friends of our that are huge into wine and starting to get more into beer over for drinks tonight. They'll be some of the first people to try my first batch of beer from 2016. It's a rye IPA, so I've named it Ryecerahops.

Make sure to use those ridiculous beer phrases that sound like wine... "intensely pallatable", "fluffy white two finger head", "Hop Essence", or my favorite "Quaffer" which essentially only sounds good if you are from the British Isles. And if you do, be sure to inhale with one nostril.

Science (peace be upon it) never fails, just a minor misjudgment on my part. I was planning that the deccoction would darken it a hair more. Also, I had less Munich malt on hand than I though so had to bump the Vienna up a touch.

It's (I'm guessing) about a 7 SRM and I was shooting for a bit more at the very lower end of the style range. Added to the fact that it finished 2 points higher than I was planning it is an something of a planning failure.

Biggest lager I've yet made but I won't be using that yeast again. Tasty albeit a stylistic failure.

TL,DR Science be praised, brewer-fail

I won tickets from local radio station for a comedy show. Got to the show, standing room only, far in the back... apparently everyone that called in "won" tickets. Was pissed. Thought I was finally a winner, instead turned out I was just a bigger loser.

I am still trying to give the thing away to the person I said I would, since I don't keg.
