Ugh...don't feel like I do the serious talks with the kids well. A local 14 year old killed himself yesterday and I find myself trying to explain to my kids that things that seems so important in middle school turn out to be silly when you get a little older. They should really require some intense training of some sort before you're allowed to be responsible for miniature human beings.

Wow. Somehow totally missed this earlier. Sorry man. Parenting is so hard. The one lesson I remember most of all from when I was a teenager was when a youth pastor spent an hour telling us that "Life is difficult". Didn't really stick out to me at the time but I've often remembered that little talk and thought about how he was one of the few people trying to be honest and tell us how life really is.

We have had too many deaths in our school district lately. It seems to be a common refrain. A large percentage have been from natural causes, but there has been a fair share of stupidity and self infliction.

Though it is tough on all, it has given is a entry into tough discussion with the eldest.

I remember when I was younger - a neighbor's son (college aged) hung himself in their home. It sincerely affected our immediate neighborhood, and made a huge impression in my dumb middle school @ss.

Just saw a bloke walking around with a 5' selfie stick. Thought that was only for asian holiday makers.

He seemed otherwise sane.

On the upside. I'm in a room with countless free beers at my fingertips. @1977brewer. Ant pointers?

Mobile tag fail of course.

Met up with DC for a bit at Cigar City, had a De Molens collab and a cask Black Currant Grove, then proceeded to rot on I-4View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1457749610.763813.jpg

Also f*** suicide just as much as cancer. I've had a few folks over the years blow their brains out or something similar, and even when I barely know or barely like the person it's never easy. Had a friend a few years back give us all the warning in the world, and none of us noticed until it was too late. Still cuts to the bone.

Went out and met up with @theCADJockey and his buddy at a local brewery. Had a pint and a flight of pretty tasty beers, and back home again. Onto a Citrusinensis and cleaning up the house a bit.

Go to the house, our realtor no-shows. Call the seller but she's busy, she said she's gonna try to get ahold of someone to come show it. Sit there 20mins and she calls back saying unfortunately everyone is busy. Annoyed. There's an open house on it tomorrow 1-3, but my wife works. I'll go to it and schedule a showing tomorrow night for the wife I guess, if it doesnt have offers by then. She's still not sold on living that far out, but slowly convincing her by there's nowhere else we can afford...

That stinks. We had that happen once when we started looking.

Dude almost time to try your beer. Can't believe I didn't think to bring you a saison. I feel like such an ass. Got a few with your name on them at home. Definitely owe ya. We will cook out and make beer soon for sure.
