Planning on brewing today, just trying to figure out if I should put in a couple hours of work first trying to find parts for my leaky utility sink faucet or say screw it and just brew and let the faucet spray all over when I need to use it...

Getting ready to take a road trip down into bourbon country. It's a beautiful Saturday (sunny and 67°!), might as well take advantage of it.

Let it leak. Leave repairs for non brew days.

Wife just asked why I'm not brewing today. Uhh, we're floor shopping and have a date tonight. I'd have like 2 hours. Might try to get one in tomorrow afternoon.

Sitting at 8 year old's dance class while HLTs sit, with calculated water volumes and water additions, next to the propane burner. Purgatory.

Dude, you only need 55 minutes, don't you know anything?

NO DECOCTION!

As I get older, I guess my recovery time gets longer...just like hangovers. I used to recover from my back going out in a day or two. Last time, it took two weeks, with muscle relaxants and Meloxicam. I finally stopped trying to push through it and spent two whole days in bed. That's what did it. Sucks to just lay there, but it's what works. Got Netflix? Time to binge-watch some series!

Kids have make-up snow day for year round school today...was up at 5:30. ugh.

I spent all day Wednesday in bed. I worked Thursday/Friday during the day and after that, I've been on the couch. I'm in a super crappy mood today because it's going to be so nice out, I need to get my motorcycle inspected and it's such a nice weekend to ride but I can't. I tried to make the movements that I would while riding and it was agony. Not sure the pain killers and muscle relaxers are doing much. They last about an hour or so and I'm back to being uncomfortable. I have a ton of stuff I need to do around the house, but can't. I did set up another Amazon Fire TV stick and I've got Showtime and HBO thanks to Mama Hello. I'm watching Game of Thrones. Started at Season 1 Episode 9 because that's the last I recall.

I suppose I'll be able to pretty much kill most of the series this weekend.

tl;dr Still whiny. Drinking coffee.

My wife always does the "you haven't brewed in a long time...we don't have anything going on this weekend...". Then, on brew day, I get all kinds of **** about how she's running kids all over the world and I've spent 4-5 hours hanging out in the garage. Case in point...see my last post...DANCE CLASS?!?!

I'll start the cats.

Helpful as always, butthole. How do you do your hop additions? Don't you get DMS?

In my case, the beer was getting lacto, so the only hop addition I did was a small dose of FWH for a few IBUs. Brought it all just to boiling, then cut off the burner and chilled. I may be wrong (and usually am), but I think with most modern malts, DMS isn't the problem some still make it out to be. Although, I still boil my Pilsen base beers for 90 min just to be safe.

Mroing. Had sex, made breakfast. Not a bad start to the day. Now about to go clean some kegs, fermenter and then take dag on a visit up to wife's work to brighten up the day for some old senile people. Then go to brew store for some Fuggles, back home to brew DEM.

I didn't get lucky this mroing. Reported.

DMS can certainly still be a problem, but it depends on the malt being used and the maltster's practices. During kilning, free DMS is formed from its precursor but most is evaporated due to its high volatility. Any leftover is typically evaporated in the boil but again this depends on the grain. Pilsner for example typically still has a higher concentration of DMS present compared to other grains. It can also be an issue if the grain is insufficiently kilned or if wort is left hot long after the boil.

I did this lesson this morning actually haha it was still fresh. I won't be able to regurgitate that in a couple weeks. And it wasnt malt, it was sensory analysis. Lots of neat info in this unit but damn it was long.

I wasn't going to say it :taco:

Does the brewery need marketing people? I think I'd be up for traveling to different beer festivals telling rando drunk ppl why the more hops better good good. Also, need shirts that say that stat.

@Ridire what's our marketing budget?
