I don't know why I haven't put that guy on my ignore list. Possibly because he seldom shows up on any thread I frequent, and I know better than to click on any thread he starts.

I love watching his train wreck threads. They're awful, but you can't look away.

Props to the guy for trying new things. However, beer is one of the most studied beverages in the history of humankind, and if there were better ways to do things, the brewing science literature would already reflect them. Homebrewers can get away with trying new things (like no-chill or BIAB) that aren't feasible for pros, but ultimately pros do things the way they do because solid science (and not backyard science) has proven them to be the most effective. I will never so easily disregard accepted practice as he does.

Yeah, I didn't at all care about his experiment. If that's how he wants to make beer it's fine by me. But for god's sake please stop making up definitions to brewing words and phrases to suit your own needs.

Also, I used to use Elmer's Glue on the aforementioned 10" blue mohawk. Hair gel, hair spray, even egg whites couldn't get the job done.

I usually use gelatin when I want something super clear in bottles. Problem is that gelatin tends to not resettle when disturbed, where the fish bladders seem to actually work BETTER after being roused once or twice, and resettle reliable (up to a point), which makes it a far better solution for use in casks.

I finally get my hands on a pint. I went with Guinness, since I'll be making my own version next weekend. SWMBO and I have also come up with a plan for the evening: beers, shower-beers, PJs, glazed salmon on a bed of rice with steamed broccoli, and some TV. This is the effing life.
