He actually did some iodine tests for my 30 min mash thread... that's the only reason I know. I was just going off of taste/OG.

If you ahve a refractometer you can also do that to see grav changes during mash.

That's a lot of work though. I'd rather just sit and drink beer for 45mins.

I no longer do it. Testing for starch in the mash this way has very poor specificity.
