Water. Getting back up to 70 today - I'll take that.

75ish tomorrow. Wish Saturday was warmer but will still most likey make it a zoo day. I still have like two or three weeks left for my aquarium membership, too

You can both bite me. We got a full on @blizzard going on here. Too dark for pictures, but since it's supposed to keep going for another 8+ hours, I'm sure I'll post some later.

I'm going back to bed. :)

We had a good coating of frost on everything the other morning. El Nino is ****ed up this way...we think spring is here in full swing then BAM! 20" of slush on the roads next week.

Question for you friendlies: I've been attempting the fermentation method of letting the yeast tell me how far along it is lately; instead of just two weeks, then dry hop, then cold crash, etc. This RPA that I brewed Sunday already started to show signs of slowing down last night. It would still push a lot of bubbles out at once, but that would be about every 30-45 seconds. Now it's even slower than that. The yeast was very fresh, and I had pitched two of the cakes from 5L batches that I had also bottled on Sunday. I try not to open up the bucket more than is necessary (AKA I only do it when I dry hop/FG test), but would you guys start warming it now?

Oh I always warm it up at the end of fermentation.

I wouldn't...only because there may still be subtle fermentation going on not shown in the airlock. Id wait until you see some solid and firm gravity readings so you don't accidently create some fusel alcohol.

Well, yea, Norway.

It's actually not as cold here as one would imagine. The way the Atlantic circulates, brings up warm-ish ocean water. So your winters are much harsher than ours. But really the weather is pretty nice in most of the country. Just not on the west coast. It's basically like Seattle weather here (or Vancouver for you canadiites). Except it's also always super windy. So it's like combining Seattle weather with western OK/Texas weather. We're hopefully moving to Oslo in July though, much better weather there, mostly because it has significantly less wind, less rainfall in general, and less days with rainfall.

I had done two weeks cold weather training there. That was probably the coldest I've ever been lol.
Towards the end of the trip the weather started getting better, and I wished we were given the opportunity to go out and see some stuff, unfortunately not the case.

had a dream last night where i was watching a car drive off of a large cliff. Just before it crashed at the bottom it flew up and turned into the batcopter. Then it landed in my parents back yard. Turns out batman keeps a mailbox there and had a delivery. It was a new stabilizer wing for the batcopter. He quickly attached it and went back on his way.

And i got to witness the whole thing.

not gonna lie, that would be a pretty bad ass dream. I had a dream last night that i installed a garage door on somebody's garage (i don't have one). I accidently wound up putting the door on the wrong side of the garage somehow.

Pretty lame in comparison.

The other night i had a dream where i got to wear this bio-mechanical massive robot armor to fight something. I could only wear it for 20 minutes before it started to infect my brain and try to take over my body for itself. That dream was killer.

Saturday will be crowded as hell though - maybe go Friday? The morning rain should keep people away and the animals will probably be more active.

Nice dream. Did you wake up exhausted though?

French press. One of my two meetings for the day just cancelled so may day just improved!

Thought about Friday, but my wife still has work that day. I'll most likely be finishing the demo on the bathroom. We would most likely get there at opening when its not too bad and be done by noon. If you get there after noon, its a mad house.

Mooring.

@joshesmusica - bubbles are not a great way to judge fermentation progress, as I'm sure you know. However, there are some beers (my blonde that's fermenting now, for instance) that finish quicker than others.

So, for this one... I'm going to check gravity on Saturday (6 days since fermentation kicked off), if it's within a point or 2 of what I expected and tastes right, I'll hit it with the dry hops and keg on Wednesday. Force carb, crash all the yeast out, fine it, done deal.

Yeah, I know. Just don't wanna be that guy that checks the gravity 3 days in, and ends up infecting and/or oxidizing the batch. It is US-05, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's mostly done considering how quickly fermentation took off. Whatever. I've got a pretty full pipeline, and I'm on limited drinking until the season starts. I'll just take this one slow. Really want my first Rye to be special!

Where at?

I think it was Alta we flew into, I can't recall where we flew out of, but it was certainly different. They didn't give us the name of the location, and I have a feeling that it may be close to a place where they store gear.
I did overhear them talking about being only a bit from the Finnish border

Checking gravity after 3 days? What is going on in here? Is duffman giving brewing tips again?
Morning dudes. Tiredish.. feelin chill at least.

Yeah, if you're not in a hurry in the first place, just let it go.

When I'm on an abbreviated schedule like this, infections are my last concern. As long as the first week of the ferment is clean, I take my sample and keg like 3 days later. No chance for anything to really take hold.

That said, I've never had an infection and I've put a dirty old VHS in my beer.

yea man, two, three days after your typical no boil method and decoction. Dry hop using used gym socks for 12 weeks for maximum affect...this is all accurate, right?
Owly would back me up on this

Morning.

Question: SWMBO and I are leaving on a cruise this weekend and flying into Ft. Lauderdale a day early. We're already planning a stop at Funky Buddha...are there any other notable breweries or beer bars in the area?

Cue Duffman with the Disney suggestions.

Funky Buddha ftw :D

Where you cruising to?

The Bahamas, Grand Turk and somewhere in the Dominican Republic...Amber Cove, I think. I've never been to any of them before.

We're really only in Ft. Lauderdale for Saturday afternoon/night, so we won't have a whole lot of time to kill. CCB is probably a bit too far away to drive, but I'll definitely try to find some places that have it on tap.

Nice man, have a good time. Its been a long while since I last was on a cruise. The vessels they are coming out with now are just monstrous and somewhat overwhelming. It was easy to get somewhat lost on the cabin levels when you were a bit tipsy...add a few more levels and triple the length of the ship and its just going to get messy
