They closed the thread so no enjoyment to be had there. At least the person has been a member since 2011 - it really would have stunk if they joined in March 2016 and that was the only post.

Yeah, it's so crazy .. how are you a member since '11 and your first post is '16? Luck son of a birch beer.

Hey cool video you had, posted, somewhere... I might have to get some info from you about that beer gun if it works as well as you said it did. Looked like it filled super slow, but that's okay.

Speaking of jelly beans...

Yes, just a few more days! 43 entries now and the current leader is within one, so only one way to win now!

Fee free - it did fill slowly, but I had the pressure at 8 (to ensure it wouldn't foam.) I'm betting I can kick it up a bit and still be okay so I'll dial it in on the next couple of batches (next one this weekend.)

Finished with coffee. Have to carry the 23 boxes of laminate flooring down to the basement so it can begin acclimating. Doubt I will install this weekend since it's Easter and all, but maybe. I can at least get it halfway done until the cabinets for the bar arrive.

It held carbonation fine after bottling it like that? I only ever filled little half growlers off my picnic tap when I was using it. They were fine, but I was drinking them within the hour after filling.

I haven't opened one since bottling - want to do a side-by-side test later this week, but it is supposed to remain carbonated. Plus the gun has a trigger to purge the bottle with CO2 prior to filling, so if anything it should be better off than using a bottling wand.

Oh. Well, alright then. Look forward to the results of side by side, if I don't comment, and you think of it.. shoot me a PM. Was the gun pricey?

I've always used the BMBF method to bottle off the keg... they hold carb great now that I have my method down. Before, I was leaving zero headspace and was losing carb/introducing some oxygen.

Now I've got the fill level down and haven't had any issues since.

Took me quite a few times to really get it though. Thanks to @Gavin_Canttag helping me get that sorted out.

Good morning, time to start this rip and tear project. See ya in a month. 😉 Coffee seemed wise..

Taco bell last night?

For my AOTD, Red Wheat/Huell Melon SMaSH, prob ferment with TYB Amalgamation (Brett blend), cuz why the funk not.

I went to Cuba in 2014 for a wedding... and a couple/few years before that I'd gone to Vietnam. And although I had to take anti-poo-everywhere medication the whole three weeks I was in Vietnam, it was still completely, 100% awesome.

On Saturday SWMBO and I bought our plane tickets to go to Peru for 2.5 weeks in May/June though! Should be fun. Anyone been to Peru and have any advice on things to do? We're currently debating between a 2day or 4day Machu Pichu tour.

My youngest boy just got back from Cusco last week. Besides a bunch of other things, he did get up to Machu Picchu. He said it was awesome (everything, including the mountain citadel). I was jealous!

I tried a variation of that. Are you saying there should be headspace?

I ended up just sticking a grommet onto my picnic tap, and held the frozen bottle at an angle so that the beer ran down the side. I pushed down, but not so hard the the pressure couldn't release a bit. It worked great. I might just start doing that from now on. No yeast on the bottom, don't have to wait three weeks for it to carb! 'Twas nice!

I was basically filling it to the brim, thinking it would hold better that way. I was wrong.

Now when I pull the wand out, I just cap right away instead of trying to top off.

Honestly don't know why I was doing it that way.

You're all so fancy with your legs and whatnot. [emoji6]

After we buy a house, and like the $10k worth of stuff my wife has decided we need once we buy the house. I would rather buy everything to keg than replace the dinner table set. Plus it's cheaper [emoji23]

Geeky enough that we stopped at Austin Homebrew. Holy flock, that is a bloody huuuge store!

HEB is next on the tour. Blue owl recked me yesterday. Sour stomach and 8 12 oz pours (SWMBO was driving, I got most of her samples). They had a bit of an active fermentation going.

Glad you had a nice trip. T'was a nice weekend. Noticed you didn't make it north, possibly next time?

Forgot to report the ending to Sunday brewday. Ended up 12 points higher than expected. Because of trying to bottle another batch that I was gonna use the yeast for on this one, I ended up going with a 50 minute hopstand. Started feeling like **** toward the end. Had a ****ty night of sleep, and now feel like **** today. Ugh. I hate being sick that 1-2 times in a year that it happens, though this just feels like allergy/sinus bs.

Really excited about this one. Thanks for convincing me to go with rye friendlies!

Glad it went well! I for one think you'll enjoy the rye.

Speaking of brewing with rye, I ended up 8 points low on my brew. Had to have been the ****ty rye crush, as the stuff from the other HBS was awesome. Oh well, it'll still be beer.

Damn man, got me curious. Did some investigating. Not sure what's up with that thread, but the couple of pages I read, seemed incredibly unfriendly. More drama in that one than the gun debate thread! No thanks!

I can't even get there. My access to the secret sub-forum has been totally revoked, not just the Tap Room. Well, at least I know now one of the mods has it out for me.
