Use of a plate chiller/IC/CFC are 100% a non issue. That is entirely the wrong tree to be barking up.

Wasn't the use, per se, but the effect of the use. Couldn't tell the last time had a stuck fermentation until started using a plate chiller. Had 3 out of 8 batches get stuck. Pitching a packet of yeast was the only fix so I must be killing them somehow. It's the only variable. Even last night's brew is looking suspicious. I use a hydrometer.

Hey PianoMan - I'm not following. I take it you're just running the chiller post boil to chill the wort before pitching? I don't see the correlation between any given wort-chilling method and a stuck fermentation.

Agreed! That's what I'm trying to figure out myself.

Ah, wasn't sure there was some other piece I was missing. I've had a few batches not hit the numbers quite on target, but luckily never had a stuck fermentation issue. I like to ferment with most yeast at their low end, so if I'm ever struggling to get the last few points down, ramping up the temp, light rousing of the yeast and an extra week usually gets me there.

Heading out to boat on Texoma in a couple hours. Weather is fantastic here today. I spent 3 yrs in Orlando, and definitely don't miss the hurricane season threat (although we have the tornado's here, sooo...pick your poison I guess).

Have a great Saturday! [emoji482][emoji482]

You guys also. Doing my 2nd brisket. Trying to get this one more tender, need to hit that 195F mark. After smoking, put a bottle of the 7.8% Stout w/bourbon, coffee, vanilla in the pan before covering. See how that goes..

Beautiful Day here. Boating on the lake. I am jealous.

I've tapped my Märzen. If you're still feeling brave and want to swing by for drinks in the coming weeks it is good to go. Schwarzbier is ready soon too.

Enjoy your weekend.

The Märzen looks great! Would love to take you up on that!

Had to look up "O'Zapf Is!", & found it on a list of "18 essential German words for Oktoberfest." I'd say that particular one might be the most essential of them! Prost!

Heading to Bevmo today so at least I'll have beer to drown my sorrows

Made it out to the Rangers / Jays game 1 on Thursday. I feel your pain. At least I was invited and had a box seat, so had plenty of free food and drinks to distract me from the dismal score. [emoji37][emoji482].
