Good for the Isles. Panthers put up a fight (and I expected them to win the series initially though I expected it to be very, very close).

You were right, it was very very close. Five games decided by a point, three OT games, two double OT. The Panthers certainly looked better at times. I think Greiss rose to the challenge. I'm looking forward to the next round. Pens and Caps should be intense.

My wife is already tired of me yelling at the tv... She hasn't seen anything yet haha.

If the caps can get better quality shots and ACTUALLY get someone in front of the net to get the dirty goals they'll have a chance at beating the Pens. They can't do the 44 shots on net with no one in front and actually expect to win in the playoffs. Philly isn't good, they just had a hot goalie for the past couple games, they're annoying and the Caps let them linger around. Can't do that with the Pens. The Caps have another level to their game that we all saw during the regular season. They're going to have to find that and get on it to win this. That and get some more production from other lines which did almost nothing last round. Here's to a good series, Go Caps!

To be fair, a first round central-division Western conference exit is kinda like a....well, crap, there is no comparison to that in the Eastern conference.

What an incredible game last night. One of the best of the season, IMO.

For certain, Blues - Blackhawks is always a good one... that game 7 was nuts. Blues came out like they were shot out of a cannon... what a game... especially the end result.

I think it's pretty well-accepted that the Central in the West is the best division in hockey. That said, here's your East vs. West w/l records since the league finally gave in to Ilitch's kicking and screaming to be moved to the easier conference so they could maintain their playoff streak:

St. Louis finally broke through and they finally slayed their dragon. I was very impressed with how they bounced back in game 7. They had the fresher legs when Chicago truly appeared beaten there at the end. Had a a two post clanger late that would have tied it but it was clear that whatever mental edge Chicago had over the Blues is gone. They retooled that team on the fly and they are poised to be good for a long time. The Blue and Dallas appear to be ready to give the old stand bys in Chicago, LA, and Anaheim a run for their money every year in the West.

I love my Hawks but they just didn't have it this year. They still play hockey like unkillable zombies at times but even they have their limits. They will, however, return. And the playing of Chelsea Dagger during the post game handshake line will not certainly be forgotten! Either way, good luck against the Stars.

So many upset Pens fans at work this morning. Parallax angles, how could the ref see the puck go in and call it a goal, etc etc... Caps win, tough loss to swallow for the Pens but get over it... Still a long way away from taking the series. Looking forward to Saturday! Go Caps!!!
