I have pushed 2 5 gallon kegs through a 5 lb tank. I have a regulator that has 2 guages, tank pressure and line pressure. . .

It is already at red. Should it be showing that? Already? I was told a 5lb tank could last like. . . 10 kegs. It has been sitting without any kegs attached to it for a month or so, but I just kegged 2 batches today and that worries me that it wont carb enough.

I could have sworn when I removed both other empty's and cleaned my lines, I had not closed the tank valve. That is one mistake I am sure, but am i worrying too much? Its not too much to get it filled (15 bucks) but I am broke and I don't wanna go through a tank every time I push 10 gallons.

I have a dual draft tower setup, the tank comes from the regulator, and splits into 2 lines, with a close off valve for each. I have used a soapy water spray bottle to check for leaks, and cant find any.

Any help , information, and input is appreciated.

Thanks!

Do you keep the tank in the fridge? I have a brand new filled tank and my gas gauge says its empty. The cold of the fridge messes with the readings.

Are you getting pressure on the kegs when you hook them up?

You could also have a leak (or leaks) in your system which is pretty common. If so you will have to try to find it using e.g. soapy water test.

That is what I am afraid of, I have checked for leaks best I know how, I can hear gas going into my corny. What is the best way to check for leaks other than a spray bottle? Also, where is it most common that people get leaks?

Do you mean you've pushed two 5 gallon tanks with a 5 lb tank of gas? The thing with the pressure gauge on the tank is that it really doesn't do anything. CO2 inside a tank remains at constant pressure until just before it is completely drained (like 3 beers worth). It is not like a gauge on a gasoline tank with liquid in it that gradually goes down as you use it. My gauge, which I wish I didin't even buy due to it's uselessness, stays in the red all the time and lasts for at least 10 kegs. Do check to make sure all your connections are tight though.

I would remove the regulator from the tank and weigh it, then subtract the total tare weight of the tank (it's stamped right on the bottle) from the weight you get and that will tell you how much CO2 is left and whether you're out or the gauge is wrong.
