My dad gave me a 14 gallon demijon that he tried and failed to make cider in. It's very large and has a spigot attached to a small length of hose that runs from the center of the bottom to the side of the basket. I was thinking about using it to make a large batch of apfelwein. I was wondering if this spigot could be used for dumping the trub and racking for bottling. My autosiphon won't reach the bottom.
I'm planning on carbing this and using my bottling bucket, which I will have to fill 3 times during bottling. Has anyone had any experience with these? Will the trub dump first or will this just kick it all back into solution?
