So my friends and I have been trying for over a year to get our hands on some 120 minute IPA. None of the local beer stores carry it; limited release; nearly impossible to find here. We've contacted and expressed our interest to over 10 local beer stores (no exaggeration.)
My friend asks the lady he knows at the store we frequent almost every time he goes there and no dice. This has been going on for close to 16 months.
Finally, he's like "What is the deal here? Why is that your distributor can't get it, because I know Dogfish has produced some by now." She says that her distributor told her all the stores in the City buy it up from them and since they're the biggest customers, they honor them first.
Infuriated that some lousy yuppies are getting their beer over us, he contacts Dogfish explaining the situation.
Low and behold, I go into the store today and there it is in front of me! I couldn't believe my eyes; amazing.
I walk over and see it's $7.99 for a 12 oz. bottle or $30.99 for a 4 pack.
I laughed out loud, no kidding. I laughed, then bought something else.
Is this serious??? $7.99 for a 12 oz. beer??? What do other people pay for this?
A seasonal 4 pack of Dogfish is about $14 in my area, so I kinda expected to pay closer to $20 for the 120minute, but this is outrageous!!!
I have a problem paying that much for 12oz. of beer. Chimay Blue is $12 for twice as much. How is it that an American IPA can cost more???
Has anyone else experienced these prices?
