A nerd would have made up miniatures of each of our handles and settled it tournament style with 2d20's.

Nah, I'm more of a 10d10 man myself. It makes addition harder! Then, the Snorglax comes, and bites your head off while you're mid-math. Buahaha.

I sucked as a DM. People hated me because I killed their characters too frequently. :D

I was thinking the same thing about Northern Brewer or maybe Midwest Homebrew.

Even if it's not necessarily "Oh, you get 2-row for 1.10 instead of 1.30", but if one of the online retailers were to give us a special discount code for our group that only applies to our RIS purchase?

This is definitely something worth looking at, IMO.

Well Austin homebrew is the only Vendor to step up and pay for a membership so it should be through them, now weather Forest wants to do that is another thing. It would be awesome if they would do that. :mug:

I totally agree. I say we get him to do a kit for us with this recipe, AG, MP and extract so we can just click and order, even if we don't get any sort of discount. I'm down with supporting those that support HBT!

AH, didn't know about that, sounds good!

Hell yeah! If Forrest was to step up and make a full kit for this I'd probably buy it outright online instead of driving down to Midwest and having to dink around for 20 minutes collecting ingredients myself. I wouldn't even expect a discount; the convenience of having it all packaged together would be worth it.

I'm in. I've never done an Imerial Stout, but I just received Jamil's new book, so I'm sure there is a recipe in there somewhere. Sounds like a good day to do a barley wine too.

I knew you couldn't resist.

If you're up in town in August...well...you know...;)

Yeah, what the heck. It sounds cool and Jamil's book is a good read so far.

I'll be in town before August for sure..Probably in January and then on a regular basis.

Time to clean some bottles. :D

Drop me a PM and c'mon by the Beer Ranch for some Brew & Que.

If are you going to Laredo, I hope you are licensed to carry.

Well, I was in for the brew, and now I want to be in for the swap as well. I'll shoot a pm over to confirm.

Brewsmith and Section1: Got it!

I have a question: Is (for each recipient) 2x 22oz or 3x 12oz too much beer? Do you think we're going overboard? Should I scale this back to 1x 22oz or 2x 12oz?

Your collective thoughts, please?

(Good point on shipping breakage, Brewsmith)

I think it's fine, especially to justify the shipping, and incase something does happen to one bottle. 2 22's or 3 12's sounds fine to me.

So we each send 1 bottle to 2 or 3 people? Or 2 - 3 bottles to 1 person? This is my first swap

Sorry, I'm not the most concise person either, I type like I talk - long and rambling!

It would be (2x 22oz bombers) or (3x 12oz standard bottles) to each of the 3 people that are on your list.

I will randomize people and generate the list sometime in March '08, which means if Joe Schmoe has an infected batch, he can just contact me and let me know that things didn't work out, and nobody will be "shorted" a batch of beer, instead he just won't be included in the distribution lists.

Also, I didn't make this clear in the original post, but I will be asking for shipping addresses at about the end of Febrewary. This is before I generate the distribution lists in March, and send them to each brewer no later than April 1, 2008.

:fro:

As I mentioned earlier, I have cross-checked our "I'm In" list to see who is a Supporting Member and who isn't. As the current policy posted by olllllo indicates, you must be at least a Supporting Member to participate in swaps - this is because of privacy concerns, sharing home addresses, etc.

IF YOUR NAME IS ON THIS LIST... you are not currently in a status that permits you to participate in this swap! We'd love to have you though!! :(

If you upgrade your membership in order to join the swap, please PM me to make sure I see it and can add you to the list! Thanks!

Yuri's a Vendor, and before that, he was either a lifetime member or a premium member (can't remember which). I'll vouch for him ;)

:D LOL, yeah, I didn't remove him from the list, because he's clearly SOMETHING besides new member. After all, gallery, user pic, custom title... all signs point to go. Just wanted to double-triple-check.

That sounds reasonable.

Are you sure you want my beer. I'm still in my first year of brewing and will be using a couple pounds of DME to make up for my 5gal MLT. I'd like to participate but I don't think I can match the quality that many of the brewers here are putting out.
Well I'll probably still upgrade to supporting member before brew day. I have gotten alot out of this site, including what looks to be a great recipe from one of the masters.

I fear no beer!

Well, except all those new 99-cent malt liquors they keep coming out with. Those are scary - and the hangover is even worse.

I fear no reasonable beer, I guess!

Chriso...did you get that spreadsheet I sent?

Yessir, thanks again! I haven't had the chance to play with it yet, we had a local beer comp Sunday, and then registration for the upcoming one yesterday, so I've been busy with my fermentables! :D

I missed this thread, too (including discussion on my behalf...thanks bird!). I suppose my status here is "Lifetime Supporting Vendor" or something like that. Anyway, I'm in!

My Triple-8 will most likely be bottled in 16 oz aluminum bottles, but I'll make up the volume difference with an extra bottle.
