    Tubing

I thought about trying something similar - flood my keg with CO2, and leave the PRV open, hook the output of the siphon to a QD and put it on the "liquid" post. That would pretty much eliminate O2 contamination.

    Tubing

Not that its old. I just didn't rinse it out the last time I used it. You're probably right though. Since I'm cold crashing now, I guess I'll just buy a new one. No reason to be penny wise and pound/dollar foolish EDIT: just placed an order on Amazon for an autosiphon for under $5 (before taxes.)

    Tubing

Well, it looks like I'm going metric. Simi Valley Homebrew has some EVA Beverage line for .50/ft (5mm ID x 8mm OD) with reasonable shipping Well, I don't have a rule handy. :)

    Tubing

Yeah. I'm looking for beverage line. Probably 3/8x5/16, I'm guessing. I'll look at the eva stuff others recommended and compare it with Bevlex. Hell, I may just go down to Lowes and buy some food-grade 3/8 tubing. :D

    Tubing

Found some tubing I'd bought awhile back that squeezed onto my autosiphon, and the suggestion to look at the existing tubing in the kegerator was a good idea. It's Bevlex 200. Now for the Kegerator, it appears Bevlex comes in a couple different sizes. Is there any way to see what size it is...

    Tubing

I was afraid it wasn't going to be so simple. *sigh*

    Tubing

I have not changed the tubing in my kegerator since I got it a few years ago. I also haven't been using it to dispense beer either.😂 I want to replace the lines. What size ID/OD tubing do I need? Also, I have a siphon (not sure what brand) that looks a lot like the picture. Anyone know what...

    Newbie keg carbonation question

No. There's a limit to how much CO2 beer can dissolve at a given pressure.

    How my dad did it.

For what it's worth, the " small glass device that he would put in it that floated" is called a Hydrometer. You need to know your starting and anticipated final gravities. When you know the original and anticipated final gravity, you can have a better idea when you will be done and can figure...

    How my dad did it.

Sounds like some sort of an early kit, to me.

    Liquid yeast packages

FWIW, it's not hard to make a stir plate... there's a tutorial here somewhere. :) Get an old computer fan, a cell phone charger and a box of some sort. If you want to be fancy, get a rheostat to adjust the speed of the fan. Not MANDATORY, but very useful if you do. All told, you can probably...

Newbie wants to try lagers as first brew..Advice needed

Well... Devil's advocate here... You can get a full-size fridge off Craigs List for little to nothing, and you can buy a temp controller for under $50. Might be able to get both for $100 or less.

Cracked carboys after cold crashing - Help!!

I don't know for sure, but I"m guessing it's thermal shock as the carboys are resting directly on the bottom. Try putting something under them so they don't rest directly on the bottom of the freezer. Maybe a couple pieces of 1x6 or something.

    Material appearing in airlock

Tube goes into a starsan/water solution, preferably BELOW the level of your wort/beer so that it doesn't suck back. Thus it acts as an airlock as well

    adding to beer kits

Gotta love those darn Brits! They mess up the language so much. You know they say we're two countries separated by a common language. :D

How the #*@k do you remove oetiker clamps?

Yep. Take off and nuke 'em from orbit -- it's the only way to be sure. ;)

Equipment Check? What am I missing?

As you suggested, a cheap Craigs List chest freezer and external themorstatic controller will do fine for controlling your fermentation temps

    Nitrogen Safe to Drink

It should be fine. Nitrogen doesn't dissolve well, so you won't be "carbonating" your coffee, just pushing it out of the keg.

Purchasing All the Required Home Brew Components, Need Help/Judgement

What everyone else has said about glass carboys -- DON'T DO IT!!! Sure they're nice and sanitary, but if they break there's a good chance you'll end up in the ER because of it. Go with a Plastic BMB or such. And yes, turkey fryers are very inexpensive. Just make sure you have a spare propane...
