    PicoBrew S Crashing during Mashing

I just got my Pico S and I'm trying to brew the pack that came with it. The system keeps crashing with ~140min left to go. It freezes up. It seems like a software issue. Anyone else have issues like this? I've poured the wort back into the keg and tried to rebrew this thing twice today, both the...

Bottling Belgian Strong Golden for NHC

I'm entering NHC for the first time this year. I'm thing about entering a Belgian Strong Golden style ale I brewed a month ago but haven't packaged yet. I would normally bottle condition this type of beer in Belgian 750ml bottles and the smaller "Vinny" Russian River style bottles. I like to get...

Would this button work for a dyi pump controller?

I'm building a simple pump controller box. I want to plug in both my march pumps and turn them on and off via buttons. I've done some wiring in the past, but my electrical knowledge is some what lacking. I'll be plugging the box into a standard 120v 15a line. I have a couple of LED on/off...

Repeated "Newsletter unsubscription success" emails from Keystone Homebrew

Hi All, Is anyone else getting multiple emails from Keystone Homebrew Supply Customer Support that say "Newsletter unsubscription success"? I've received four of them today. I never unsubscribed. I called them to give them a heads-up, they suggested that I was hacked, but I see no...

    Choklat (Souther Tier) Inspired

Southern Tier's Choklat is my favorite chocolate stout. It is strong, smooth and tastes like a chocolate egg cream. I made a 3 gallon test batch of the recipe that was really nice. I don't know if it matched the straight up chocolate velvetyness of the Southern Tier's but is was good. I used...

    New York Blichmann HopBlocker $40.00

Used three times. Doesn't work well with my immersion chiller. I paid the normal list price ($59.99). I'll mail it to you for $40.00 + whatever the shipping and handling actually costs. If you're in the NYC area, I can possibly meet you somewhere.

How do you store your brewing gear/equipment

My Stuff is in a combo of places. I need to clean it up. I want to make it easy to get things and put them away. Do you throw it all in buckets? Do you use a tackle box? Tool cabinet?

    2012 Manhattan Wort Brewers

I'm lucky enough to be brewing for this season's Manhattan/Brooklyn Wort contest in NYC. I'm wondering if any of the other brewers are on here also? I'd love to know what others are brewing or planning on brewing for the event. I have my competition lager fermenting right now. I'd be happy to...

    Cheap Recirculation tool @ HDepot?

I saw this item on Home Depot's site: Here I was thinking of hooking it up to my immersion chiller to recirculate wort. It has a barb already. They have them with more or less manifolds and in different sizes. I don't have a pump yet, but plan on getting one soon. I'd like to have the...

    Too Windy to Brew Outside

do you think I'm wasting my time trying to brew in 19 mph winds. I have a blichmann propane burner but I also have a gas stove inside. Inside is slooooww but works. I'd rather be outside but don't want to fight a losing battle. Any thought?

    ??Blichmann Burner Problem??

MobileMe Gallery I've posted photos to the above page of my new Blichmann Top Tier burner. I noticed it is missing one of the four screws that attach the burner to the frame. Not a big deal as long as they send me a replacement screw. Here is where my concern is, when I tried to use one of...

Wyeast 2112 California Lager yeast slowing down quickly

It's my first time brewing a lager. I pitched OG 1.057 @ 68F around 10PM Sunday night. There were signs of fermentation by the time I woke up. When I got home from work it was really going. I moved the carboy to a colder room. The carboy now reads 60F. It's Wednesday and things seem to be...

Dented / Dropped Oxygen Regulator fix?

So, while cleaning up after a longish brew day I dropped my oxygen regulator on the floor. The tank was not attached, it was just the regulator. It is now slightly dented the bottom opening near the treads and will no longer screw on to the tank. Here is the same regulator...

When do you pull your hops out of the wort?

I like to use a hop bag when brewing. I just find it much easier than straining the wort with a bunch of pellet hop sludge still in it. When do you pull the hop bag out of the wort? I can never decide. Is it at flame out or once it cooled?

    Yeast Starter Overflow!!! Help

I pitched a Wyeast London III into a 2L starter last night. When I got home from work today I discovered that it had overflowed pushing the foam cork out of the flask. The cork was kind of just sitting on top of the flask, possibly exposing the started to direct contact with the air in my...

Raising Temp on #3711 French Saison Yeast??

I'm brewing an overly strong Saison style ale S.G. 1.091 using the yeast from an earlier 5gl batch of regular Saison. It seems to be moving along fine by the looks of things and is still bubbling away after seven days. The Fermentometer on the side of the carboy reads 74F-76F. Is there any...

IBU / Hop utilization software issues??????

I'm using two different applications for recipe creation, Hopville.com and Beer Tools (only one that works native on Macs). I get to wildly different IBU amounts from each. Which is correct? I'm making Northern Brewers Belgium Strong Golden Ale extract recipe with some changes to hop amounts...
