Yeast viability at the bottom of a blowoff container...

Can I harvest and then wash yeast that ends up at the bottom of a blowoff container filled with starsan? My London III went crazy and there's quite a bit at the bottom. I'm only 3 days post pitch so it hasn't been sitting long.

    Stir plate

Agree with the two days. Afterwards either split among mason jars or crash to be added to your wort.

Galaxy Bowl by Hop Butcher for the World Recipe

Taking a shot in the dark, but if you're lucky enough to have tried this beer, you'll know why I want to try brewing it. Anyone have any ideas regarding a recipe? I know galaxy hops are part of it...duh.

    three hour boil scottish ale

I've brewed both methods from "Brewing Classic Styles" using the reference recipe, and much preferred the 1 gallon caramelization version. It's now on my rotation. There is no way a three hour boil would come close to mimicking reducing down a gallon of the first runnings (in reference to...

I just got a Lager Fridge - What should I brew first?

Marzen/Oktoberfest or a Helles. WLP 029 does a great job for either.

    Best beers available in Wisconsin

New Glarus - Two Women is underrated. Any woodmans grocer up there's sells cases for less than $30. Thumbprint series (as mentioned previous) are all great.

    Carbonation in my fermenter

I'm new to cider making (as I'm currently fermenting my first batch). I just checked the gravity and still have a few points to go. My concern is the level of carbonation in solution. While not sparkling, upon swirling the fermenter to re-suspend the yeast, to get back to work, the cider gave...

Have I been batch sparging wrong?

Try increasing your grain bill by a couple % for each type of grain. Before I bought a mill, I ran into the same problem at my LHBS. It wasn't too much of a hassle to add an extra pound/oz here or there to make sure I hit my OG. Getting a mill worked wonders for my efficiency.

You know you're a home brewer when?

when you are taking a shower at a lake house with amazingly soft water and think that it could produce some great dark beers.

Huge Road Trip: Where should I stop?

Great looking trip you have. Try to stop by Two Brothers while your in the Chicago area. Also, a lot of people have commented that you should swing by Wisconsin to pick up some New Glarus. Try your best. They brew some great beers and lambics. Every gas station and mini-mart near the border...
