    Contradicting grain bill weights.

    Purpose of airlock

    I understand how it shows if the beer is fermenting but serve any other purpose ? The reason I ask is I couldn't find my middle piece when I finished brewing. I just placed the airlock and lid on. I trust it will ferment.

    Moldy mash tun

    I thought I cleaned my mash run last week but upon opening it today I learned my memory failed me. There was mold growing away. If I clean the mold out a hot water and soap will that be sufficient?

    My 5 gal sparging pot smells metalic. Problem?

    I have to sparge 5 gallons of water. My friend let me borrow a 5 gallon steel pot that's in pretty rough condition. It has a metalic smell even after I cleaned it. Will this affect the water? My other option is to use a 3 gallon and two 1 gallon pots. I'd rather keep

    Best way to cool wort

    If it's below freezing would it be better to take the pot outside? If so can I take the lid off to swirl it some? I'm thinking if I rap a wet towel around it and place it out side it will drop the temp much quicker than an ice bath.

    Pouring the wert into the fermenting bucket

    Using my racking cane I siphoned most of my pale ale into the primary fermenter but I dumped the last bit in. This is ok isn't it? I thought that If there's a time to aereate it's at this point.

    dropped unsanitized plastic lid in fermenter

    I just finished my first brew. It was almost problem free until I dropped a small plastic lid from the extract container in my fermenter bucket. How big of a problem is this? I immediately pulled it out.
