Yay, feel like a zebra case Should I take a gravity reading to see if fermentation occurred? How much change would signify fermentation? If none, can I repitch another vial?

Know the infection or not question gets old, but I'm lost. Stout with lactose and several Oz of coco powder. No fermentation at day 5 and this solid layer formed by day 3. I shook it before the picture to disrupt it to see what was going on. This an infection ?

Brewing a recipe that is calling for raspberry and coconut flavorings and another recipe calling for raspberry puree. Where do you purchase quality flavorings and/or purees? I have heard horror stories before about peanut butter and chemical like tasting flavorings before.

Per suggestion of another member, I placed the Johnson Temp Controller probe in the thermowell of my SS Technologies Chronical Fermenter. I came back a few hours later to see that the fridge had cooled all the way down to 32 degrees (the controller was set for 65). Is there really that big...

SS Technologies in their infinite wisdom failed to send instructions or batteries with their probe (I carefully looked throughout the packaging for the batteries). Does anyone know what size they are, I cannot find anything online.

It works, but I don't know how well yet or if the temp alarm is going to go off constantly.
