I tried to find this in the forum but had no luck. I'm set to do an all grain breakfast stout with oats and two types of coffee.
First: Do I put the oats straight into the mash or do I have to crush them with the grains? If I dont crush them do I need to cook the oats first before using...
Camping right now... Got a clone of slurry bitter and pliney the elder...good stuff...picked up two local brews Big Sky Moose Drool and a Red Lodge Bent Nail. On the way out to the Midwest stopped by and picked up some New Glarus various pack... All are great.
I keep my Star San solution in a keg, 5 gal worth. I check it with a ph strip when I need to use it. Then pour it back into the keg and reseal the top. It's been about 4 months and it still checks fine, still creates a nice foam.
I hope this question has not already been answered. I like the beer smith software but Ive starting finding that there is only a very limited numbers of options when attempting to add a new recipes. On my last two brews I had to add the new grain type and even some hops.

Welcome fellow Delawarean, I use the Newark HDYB when I need to but usually get most my stuff online. The next closest I have found is Philly or Lancaster Pa.

I just got a new SS brew pot and I want to put volume markings on it. Does anyone have a good idea on how to mark it, without installing a sight glass. I was thinking about etching it. Also, do I start my increments it the ball valve or at the bottom?
