I was thinking about the ruby from mcmenamins out in the northwest, does anyone know what the base is for that beer? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Fruit Beers

Has anyone tried using an amber ale as a base for a fruit beer? I am thinking I'll be doing that to get a little more body than I get with a wheat ale. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Fruit Beers

Fruit beers or fruit influenced beer has been a big topic on here lately and I'm curious everyone's thoughts on whole fruits vs purées. I'm going to do an amber ale with a fruit in the secondary and do not want to do an extract. Curious what's worked for you all! Sent from my iPhone using...

    Straining into primary

I've been on here a few months now, love the forum!!! Thanks for all the great information! I've read different takes on straining/filtering beer out of the boil into the primary. What's ok vs not? I don't want to miss on ABV or quality by not getting all the material and so on into the...

    Much higher ABV

I just bottles a batch of the lakefront fixed gear extract kit and it ended up with an ABV of %8.79 which is %2 higher than it was supposed to be. I followed the recipe exactly, that all being said it still tastes great however smells pretty boozy but that should mellow out after some bottle...

    Low Original Gravity

Wort was at 71 degrees. It's possible that I didn't have it mixed enough, i don't have a proper aeration tool yet I just vigorously shake the carboy once I've put it all together. Will that have a major effect of the outcome?

    Low Original Gravity

I'm brewing Hop Cult IPA from Midwest Supply and it calls for original gravity of 1.064 and mine measured 1.055. Why does this happen and what's the outcome going to be? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew
