    Spike Complete System

Big difference between a car and a mail order electric control panel. Between the option of sending it back or trying to trouble shoot it myself, I’ll save everyone the time and expensive of shipping and spend 20 minutes fixing it. Eventually this will be out of warranty and I’ll have to fix...

    Spike Complete System

My problem had nothing to do with spike. They don’t wire the panel, the electric brewery does. They told me they had already fixed the problem.(new employee error) they thought they had fixed all panels before they had been shipped.

    Oak Chips

I got some heavy Toast American oak cubes, took 10 grams worth of cubes and put them in a vacuum bag with just enough bourbon to cover and am waiting for it to be soaked in. I’ll bag those 10 grams and add them to a gallon and pull them out when I get the flavor I want.

    Oak Chips

I have a 10% milk stout in the fermenting that I'm adding vanilla, cinnamon, and cacao nibs too. I'm going to pull a gallon off and put some oak chips soaked in bourbon into but am not sure how many chips to add to such a small amount, any advice?

    Spike Complete System

Ya it’s not bad. I had to swap 2 of mine when I first got it.(mash and boil installed in wrong place). Ate they sending it preprogrammed?

    Suggestions On Replacing CFC

I use a small vacuum, attach the hose to the blower side and push air through my CFC until it’s dry. You could also use a small air compressor. I’ll put some boiling water through it on brew day but nothing ever comes out.

Sparge with 168 degree water until you have 7 gallons in the boil kettel, assuming your boil off rate is the same.

SS Brewtech Unitank VS Spike Unitank

https://www.ssbrewtech.com/collections/accessories/products/copy-of-tri-clamp-1-1-2-3-8-barb-sampler-valve I grabbed this one from SSbrewtech. The problem with Spike's for me is I could never find the sweet spot. I would only get a drop of liquid, even under pressure, or an uncontrollable flood...

SS Brewtech Unitank VS Spike Unitank

not a huge deal but I hated the included sampling valve that came with the spike conical. I replaced it on the second batch.

    Ordered yeast online

I ordered a pack of 1318 online from MoreBeer with an ice pack. It came today hot, it was 85 out, and already activated. I was planning on making a starter with it tonight but I don’t know if its usable. I don’t know for sure when it was activated but it was shipped on Tuesday morning.

What are your PBW best practices?

If I’m soaking parts I leave it for like a day then just rinse with hot water. Some things like my fermenter get hit with saniclean, gaskets and TC go in a drying area then in a dry bucket with a lid. Brew day they all go into a bucket small bucket of saniclean until I rebuild the fermenter...

What are your PBW best practices?

I use it mainly on the cold side. Pumped through spray balls in my conicals, soaking any dirty fittings, and cleaning my kegs. I spray out the hot side with hot water and attach all my ball valves to my sink faucet and give them a good cleaning that way. I’ll pbw the hot side once a year or so.

    Spike Brewing contact?

Like it it randomly shuts off? Is if tripping anything inside the panel? Which element is it? You might have better luck with ebrewsupply, they made the panel.
