    Pausing brew

Hey guys, I have about a gallon of brewed kombucha ready to bottle but still have some from my last batch. I want to finish the last batch I made before I flavour and carbonate the next batch. (I need the swing top bottles) I took the scoby out with about 2 cups of liquid and stored it in the...

    Chai tea

I brewed my first batch of kombucha last night. I jumped the gun a bit and used chai tea. The recipe said black tea the back of the chai tea box said black tea so I went for it. After doing more research this morning, Ive been reading that although you can use chai, it's a little more prone to...

    Yeast harvesting/washing question

Thank you Gavin. I think Im going to take this route. I am using liquid vials which cost me about $9 a batch. So it is to save money (a little bit). However if I was using dry yeast I would still want to learn how to do this. I think this whole hobby is about having fun. :tank:

    Yeast harvesting/washing question

I was worried about not washing because there is quite a bit of trub in the carboy. It was one of my first brews, I need to work on filtering. I also want to save some some jars for future batches. Will trub in the jars affect the yeast during storage? Or give off flavors?

    should I use a secondary?

Seems like the hardest part of all of this will be waiting to enjoy the beer. I guess I will just have to keep adding to my bottle collection :tank:

    should I use a secondary?

I just brewed my first 2 batches, 1 on tuesday, and another the Tuesday before. Ive read alot about secondaries and it doesn't seem like a necessity to me. That being said im going on a small vacation for 4 days next saturday. whenI leave my first brew, an amber ale, will have been in the...

So the power just went out about 10 mins before my boil started. And its only my second batch! Looks like im going to be doing hop additions and transfering to my primary by candle light(kind of romantic) ..... with my dog. I would have enough sunlight in my garage if it wasnt storming...
