No, it would be only a loss on the strike. Once you do your initial mash, the grain is already saturated with water, there shouldn't be any loss during the sparge. If there is any, it should be minimal.

Actually.... My very first brew a few years back, for some reason I thought that the stopper needed to be under the lip of the carboy, bad mistake! I did eventually get the stopper out of the carboy, using a combination of a wire hanger, channel locks and a LOT of luck. As for getting...

I think what Nurmey was trying to say is that the kit may require additional fermentables to be added, for instance sugar. Normally the kits are good for 5 gallon batches, but without seeing the actual kit ingredients and instructions it's hard to tell what additional items would be needed...

I do close to the same, I have a pan full of ice water with a measuring cup in it that I keep in the freezer, add the hot wort into a measuring cup. Easy for taking multiple readings over time since all you have to do is wash out the measuring cup. Same general concept, same results :)

It's an Australia/New Zealand hop that I don't think I've come across, although I couldn't be sure. Here is a link for an Australian site that is selling them if you really want them... Galaxy Hops

If you have Cost Plus or could be World Market (depends on where you live) they have a pretty good selection of barware, mugs, pilsner glasses etc... But be wary there though, a lot of the stuff that they have isn't very high quality, although a lot of stuff there is pretty cheap.

Thanks, I didn't think so, but haven't crash cooled yet so wanted to make sure there would be enough yeast in suspension that carbing would be normal. Thanks.

Just wondering, if I crash cool for 2-3 days at ~33 degrees, will there be any problems bottle carbing?
