Ive done a belgian strong ale with a starter made from a simgle vial of wl545. my fermentation was agressive fast and clean. the yeast seemed to give an active fermentation and then make a settle to the bottom in a pretty even layer. the beer was excellent . att 90%.

thanks to all the people on HBT who helped me in my e-herms projet.
thanks to my family and friends for the feedback of the finished product.
thanks to obk, brewhardware, hopdawgs for all the goodies to help me brew that liquid bread.
save water, drink beer.
Thanks to you all. My E HERMS projet has given off a sweet reward. My electric panel worked like a charm . Ive brewed a strong belgian ale first. My mash tun performed well with 13 pound of grain. I did a yeast starter with WLP545 in my stirrer flask . Oxygenate wort with o2 and got a crazy...
Thanks for the suggestions. The stirrer was made because i only have one pump. For the HERMS coil. You are probably right for the nightmare! After the build i was holding my head thinking about it. The double coil was to minimize the space of a 50' copper tube. In the end im starting to see the...
I am working on a stirrer to keep the temperature even in my HLT. Im planing on a e HERMS setup. My dual copper coil has an inside diameter of about 7 inch. So that gives me enought space to put in a water stirrer. ive use a geared DC motor from ebay. A 400 rpm one. . There was six little...
For the compression fittings. Those neon glass tube are around 5/8 OD. I guess you could use some o ring and a compression fitting. For me the hole idea was to get it as cheap as possible. The M/F elbow and the 1/2 to male NPT costed me a few bucks. Those 5/8 SS compression fitting are quite...
I was looking at all the tubing used for sight glass tubing on the internet and on HBT. I found that polycarbonate tubing was very popular. After a few research on the material. I found that there is some hydrolysis that occur a high temp with water. Giving off some byproduct that would be...
Thanks John. Ive redone all the leaking parts with loctite 55. Filled up my HLT up to the top. Waited half an hour. Voila! No leaks what so ever. I love this stuff too. I did my BK with it last night. I will do a leak test tonight.
You know what? I did a leak test for my HLT. All the fittings done with loctite 55 teflon cord did ok. All my teflon tape ones a leaking a little. . It seems to be all the copper to stainless ones. I did 6 turns with ordinary teflon tape an then hand tightened. Plus 1 to 1 1/2 turn with a...
I'm planing on using a inline aeration setup that i already made. It consist of a pyrex tube ( dunlop 203 slide) between two stainless flange. On one side is a thermometer and a 6 mm stainless capilary tube with the air stone on the other side. I will be using pure oxygen. From what i read. You...
From what i understand from people who use loctite 55. The only advantage is that you can unscreew a fitting, most likely a valve, without the fear of having a leak. Some others said they saw a demonstration where fitting were hand screewed .The whole setup was put under pressure and it held...
I understand what you mean about pipe sealant. Ive unscreewed all the fitting that hade some gasoila on. After cleaning all the thread i'm starting over. Loctite 55 is a PTFE cord. No chemicals there. I just wanted to know if any of you experience this stuff on your brewing rig. I found a 145m...
