I am working on a stirrer to keep the temperature even in my HLT. Im planing on a e HERMS setup. My dual copper coil has an inside diameter of about 7 inch. So that gives me enought space to put in a water stirrer. View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1458617455.857741.jpg ive use a geared DC motor from ebay. A 400 rpm one. I cutted a round plate that was just big enought to stand in the middle of a 2" ABS coupler. After drilling and securing the motor in place i used a 6mm to 8 mm aluminum coupler to attach a stainless steel lab stirrer. View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1458617848.771846.jpg. All is left is to solder some wires and use some 2" ABS pipes and caps to attach it to my HLT cover . View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1458617968.194209.jpg. The only questions left are if i need to silicone every screws to keep this water tight or if i enclose the motor in a ABS tube will some holes be needed to dissipate the heat? Getting close to my first brewday!
