Hey folks,
I have a 15 gallon Spike Kettle with side pick up tube and spike 3 PC ball valve. Also have a Blichman Hellfire. Both have about 15 brews on them or less, purchased a year and half ago. I still have original boxes and can ship at buyers expense. Ups. How about 350 for both.
Hey Folks-
Looking hard at purchasing one of these. I use a chest freezer to control fermentation temps. I know a lot of these were sold during the 25% off sale a month of so ago. Are you owners picking up full vessels and placing them in your fermentation fridge? I read about the warning...
So I like this beer, but not as much as I had hoped. This is the 4th time I've brewed almost the exact recipe (I increased the orange the last 2) and with 001 it is cleaner and the spices are more evident. The kveik version is more tart. Instead of sweet citrus I get almost an orange rind...
I finally brewed this with Denny's yeast and it's great. Definitely more malt flavor and full bodied. The rye plus this yeast give such a silky, creamy mouthfeel. I didn't find this yeast difficult to use or powdery. Three weeks in the primary and a week in the keg (even keg hopped) and it's...
I'm kegging mine today. I cold crashed it for a few extra days due to a sore back. I followed that Blue Moon recipe almost exactly, and I did add the coriander and orange per the recipe (even a little extra since I've brewed this before and always up the spice). I pitched around 90 and...
Checked sg last night......down to 1.010 from 1.048. It appears done. Never needed a blow off hose but still a very aggressive fermentation. I plan to crash and keg it over the next few days. Feels funny......I still have a vienna lager with full krausen fermenting away from a brew session...
I vacuum seal them in 4 oz increments. Once I open one I use what I need and keep it frozen in a zip lock, unless it's a variety I dont plan to use anytime soon. In that case I simply reseal whatever is left and toss in the hop freezer.
I love hopsdirect and have been purchasing hops from them for years. I too just ordered some crystal (plus Mt. Hood, Centennial, Tradition, and Columbus). 5 lbs for less than 10 bucks/lb shipped, not to mention their lbs are usually very generous.
I pitched at 90 and wrapped in sleeping bag. Had full krausen within 3 hours and already slowing by 24. Haven't checked sg yet but guessing it's about done. Hoping the fruit esters go well with the american white ale grain bill. I'll follow up once finished and packaged. Cheers
Has anyone tried it? I've never used this yeast but purchased it to do a quick light beer while my fermentation fridge is occupied with a lager. The citrus esters I hear about would go nice with my blue moonish american white ale, right? I usually use 001 for this recipe. Thanks for any...
Ok, I will quit bantering about this. We just keep talking past each other. Just a few last comments so the beginners you are trying to educate don't get confused........
1- I was referencing your 25 billion comment. That's 25% of a "fresh" smack pack. Homebrewdad estimates 40 billion live...
A sign on the yeast fridge at my lhbs mentions a darker WL product due to process changes. I wonder if you received a pack from before and after such changes? I just picked up a pack of 833 and it was pretty dark, but also bought 838 and it was much lighter in color. Different yeast, so that...
