Just brewed up my first Stout and 3rd all grain BIAB. I hit 75% efficiency (My best yet) with 19.5 lbs of grain mashed in 8 gallons of water and kind of sparged with 1 gallon for the heck of it. I'm happy with it.

Water adjust per EZ water and I nailed the mash at 154 for 1 hour.

Here is the recipe:
13.5 special pale
1.69 brown malt
1.56 wheat malt
1.5 roast (??? 550L)
1.06 flaked oats
19.5 lbs total

1 oz nugget 60 min ( only 34 IBU's)
I also added about .5 oz simcoe for 60 minutes to get the IBU's up to around 50, which is what southern star advertises it as.

Gave me 6 gallons of 1.080

Then I was feeling experimental so I separated 1 gallon and added .5 gallons of water to it for a OG of 1.054 and I plan to dry hop it with some more of the simcoe I have left. Dumb Idea?? I figured why the hell not.

:mug:

The one gallon batch will probably be tasty. I really enjoy super hoppy stouts, or are they Black IPAs at that point?
